Courage is simply doing things easily and comfortably that other people would find scary.

Thus what is deemed courageous changes depending on what social group we're in.

For example, in certain groups of men it is not considered a great feat to ask a woman out on a date, but in other groups of men it certainly is.

So this insight can be used to do more things which we currently deem to be courageous. Thinking that many other people probably don't think [insert action here] is scary can reduce our fear.

The influence of bad teachers during our school years can have a lasting impact on our lives, especially in terms of public speaking and overall well-being.

Many of us can relate to the disheartening and humiliating experiences caused by bad teachers. Negative feedback, harsh criticism, and even public humiliation can leave deep emotional scars, affecting us as adults.

One area where this impact becomes evident is public speaking. The fear of judgment and criticism can paralyse us, making it difficult to speak confidently. These fears often stem from past experiences with bad teachers.

These experiences can also affect our general well-being, diminishing self-esteem and self-worth, which can hinder our ability to engage openly with others and take on new challenges.

But it is possible to heal completely from this and let go of the pain. Here are some steps to help let go of these negative experiences:

1. Self-reflection: Understand…

Cheers man- I wonder if this has impacted me or people I know. I always disliked public speaking but can't pinpoint it to a specific bad experience with a teacher.

It just seems like the sense of pressure during presentations created a negative association with speaking in front of groups.

With meditation or a reflective exercise, you can certainly expose limiting thoughts about yourself, or even painful memories, that contribute to the fear.

Then, I feel like, a good move is to "start small" speaking to people you feel comfortable with (or even just by yourself) and work from there towards more daunting situations.

Just sharing a reflection I'm having for the moment: why from 2 people who are genuinely interested in me and my life, one of them may stay interested over the years while the other will lose interest? Maybe another way to ask the question is what make good connections actually last?

Thoughts are welcome. :-)

Thank you. Yes, the heart of us is connected to the heart of everything. We are the only ones who can truly make ourselves suffer.

An insight about charity:

‘The price for a good deed is a good deed’

This morning I found out that my van wouldn’t start because last night I was using the car battery to charge my phone during Zoom sessions

So I went into the town to see if anyone could help me and within 40 minutes I was driving away

The butcher got his friend to help me and she refused my money even when I insisted- this is how good Cornish people  are

I should have went to the butchers to buy some meat (to repay him) but I did not and am currently in Truro library doing some work - when I return to St Agnes I will go into the butchers shop (it could be tonight or later)

Here is the meat I bought, lol
