Archaic pride = arrogance; the quality of having an excessively high opinion of one's ability or importance.

Modern pride = conscious of one's own dignity; a healthy self-esteem

Archaic pride is unhealthy, while modern pride is healthy. Archaic pride is used in the Bible, and is essentially another word for 'arrogance.'

A man who achieves something is right to feel modern pride, but if the glory goes to anything other than God / Nature, he crosses over into arrogance. Going deeper, the reason why glory should not be attributed to the ego is because the ego is not real- it is a vastly complex web of deeply-held beliefs.
